Ecological solutions at BHM

Away from the big city and corporate ecological hustle and bustle, at Poland’s eastern border, BHM conducts its activities in harmony with nature...

Being a company that creates its products on the offers of the natural world, it is worth giving back something to Mother Nature, by building the ecological value of the company and thus being one step ahead of the competition. Janusz Bartoszuk, President of BHM is one of almost a handful of conscious entrepreneurs living and working in Poland. While many companies are only at the stage of implementing ecological solutions, at BHM we had focused our attention on ecology from the very beginning of the company's operation. Sustainable development and ecological responsibility are key ideas for our company's operation in these times of climate change and ecological devastation. However, it is the specifics that count not mere words.

At BHM, we conduct our business in such a way that it is not burdensome for our environment. We strive to reduce exhaust emissions and noise levels, and we use machines with energy-saving motors. Moreover, by working with local companies, we reduce the carbon footprint in transportation. Due to the location of our company outside the city, our employees cannot reach the company by public transport. However, an interesting initiative undertaken at BHM is carpooling, which involves employees traveling together in one car to the workplace. In this way, we contribute to reducing the carbon footprint and the amount of pollutants emitted into the atmosphere.

Last year, we also invested in a photovoltaic installation that uses renewable solar energy and helps to reduce electricity costs. In addition, the company utilizes energy-saving LED bulbs in its lighting. These do not contain mercury and other harmful substances, making them easier to recycle. We also have motion sensors integrated with lighting activation.

Here, at BHM, we try to use raw materials that are least harmful to the environment, and we run a waste management economy through refuse segregation. Marked waste segregation bins on the premises of the company make waste sorting easier for our employees. We also collect bottle caps and used batteries. Whenever possible, in our operations, we try to reuse materials such as ground foam and non-woven fabric used in our pillow manufacturing. Moreover, our carpentry and upholstery shops boast closed dust extraction circuits that enable recuperation, i.e. heat recovery. At BHM, we use water-soluble varnishes, wood stains and adhesives for foams and wood - the undeniable advantage of which is the low emission of toxins harmful to health. At the production stage, we take care of the grade of our fabrics too. We make every effort to ensure that their quality is as high as possible and the harmful impact on the environment is as low as possible.

In the goods we sell, we offer our customers a timeless design and extreme durability of our furniture, which allows them to be used for many years in the most demanding interiors. To prevent the waste of material, we implement the technique of nesting the fabrics and furniture boards, which consists in arranging the elements to be cut out on the available surface in such a way that there is as little unused space on it.

The raw materials we use are FSC certified, which allows us to distinguish wood products that come from responsible forest management.

Furthermore, the company runs its own sewage treatment plant with self-cleaning filters.

We also provide appropriate safe working conditions for our employees. Our specialists work at ergonomic workstations, and we have equipped our plant with pneumatically adjustable upholstery tables, while the foam wrapping department is equipped with rotary tables.

Every day we are guided by the idea of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility). Its goal is primarily the voluntary implementation of solutions aimed at protecting the natural environment and creating good relations with the company's background.

Conducting activities aimed at minimizing the impact of the company on the environment is possible only with the involvement of the entrepreneur and employees. Both parties must be aware of the purpose behind this. The goodwill of employees and the willingness to support the President of BHM in his activities for the sake of ecology is the key to success in running our company.
